Concrete, glass & a little bit of rain.

Not every love story needs a field and a sunset.

When Armand and Aneska started planning their engagement session, they wanted something different. Something urban.

So we headed into Sandton.

Between the glass, concrete, city streets and towering buildings, we had an enormous playground to work with. Strong lines, reflections, architecture, movement and all the energy that comes with photographing in the middle of Johannesburg.

Then it started to drizzle.

We could have waited for it to pass.

We didn't.

The streets became reflective, the light softened and suddenly the city had an entirely different mood. What could easily have been considered bad weather became part of the photographs.

That's one of the things we love about shooting on location. You can plan where you're going and roughly what you want to create, but sometimes the best ingredient is the one nobody ordered.

Armand and Aneska trusted us to run with it.

And we're very glad they did.
