Love, laughter & a suspicious number of rubber ducks.

We weren't originally supposed to photograph Jeandrik and Mathew's wedding.

Shortly before their day, their original photographer withdrew after learning they were a same-sex couple.

That's how their story found its way to us.

There wasn't much to think about. They needed photographers. They were getting married. We were happy to step in.

And we're incredibly glad we did.

Because once the wedding began, the circumstances that brought us there became a very small part of a much better story.

Jeandrik and Mathew's day at Pheasant Hill Boutique Hotel was heartfelt, playful and completely full of personality. There were beautiful moments, enormous laughs, people who clearly adored them and an atmosphere that made this wedding feel wonderfully intimate.

And there were rubber ducks.

Lots of them.

A hunt for the little yellow troublemakers became part of the festivities and produced exactly the kind of unscripted chaos we love photographing.

By the end of the day, this wasn't a story about a photographer who didn't show up.

It was about the people who did.

Friends. Family. Two grooms very much in love. And a room full of people celebrating exactly what everyone had come there to celebrate.
